VMS:
When did you start writing and performing your music.
What’s your backstory and current lineup.
Three Rounds:
The current line up is:
George Vacca: Vocals/ Bass
Noah Noriega: Guitars
Jay Caballero: Keyboards
Joey Hennigan: Drums
We started writing music and performing back in 2006. I was in the process of writing material that year as well as finding members, it was by 2007 the band was formed and our setlist was pretty much ready for us to start playing shows. We all come from different musical backgrounds but we share the same umbrella that is the idea of Three Rounds music, we all agree on what our sound should be, and what it can be and we never stray away from that path.

VMS:
What artist or bands inspire you and your sound.
Three Rounds:
Inspiration comes from so many different things when it comes to Three Rounds music, it comes from literature, life, interactions, the sky, the moon, art, family, the thought of the ocean, so many things, so many things. As far as music, we all have our personal favorites that inspire us and our playing, and what we do with our instruments.
I’d have to say as a whole, as a band, Glenn Danzig, Robert Smith, Joy Division, A Flock of Seagulls, U2, Christian Death, Eddie Money, Phil Collins, The Cars, and Elvis Presley.. just naming a few, again this is musical influences as a whole, as far as what influences the sounds we produce, there’s plenty of personal musical influences we have that could go deeper into each instrument but that’s another story lol..
VMS:
What’s your writing process and inspiration for your lyrics.
Three Rounds:
As far as the writing process goes, first and foremost I have to be inspired to write a song, where that inspiration comes from varies from time to time, it could be anything from a song, to a conversation, to the moon in the night sky, but once that inspiration comes it then turns into a four part process.
First I’ll start by working on the foundational riffs, which usually consists of a verse and chorus of some sort, then I present that to Noah so he can layer his guitar melodies over it, then once we’re both happy with what we’ve come up with together we present that to Joey and jay so they can add the drums and the keys, and then once everything musically is done and fine tuned I add the vocals, using either lyrics that were previously written and shelved for something down the road or sometimes I get an idea in my head, a story or topic if you will and I just go with it and sometimes it just flows out and pours onto the paper, those are truly the best songs.
As far as the actual inspiration for my lyrics, again I get inspiration from lots of things in life, I really would have to thank Jack London, Ernest Hemingway, Henry David Thoreau, and a list of many other authors from the past that I love, because literature is a very big part of my life and has heavily inspired me and a lot of Three Rounds songs.
Songs like “American Literature” which is inspired from Jack London’s “The Star Rover”, “The Descent” is inspired by The Divine Comedy of Dante Alighieri, “Paradise Lost” is inspired by John Milton’s poem of the same title, “As Above So Below” was inspired from the works of Éliphas Lévi and Nicholas Flamel, and the list goes on.

VMS:
I love your songs “Paradise Lost“, “Sanguise” and “Before Your Gone“. What is the inspiration or story behind these songs.
Three Rounds:
I’ll try to keep these answers as short and to the point as possible, lol, I know I have a tendency to ramble on.
“Paradise Lost” was inspired by John Milton’s poem of the same title, the story of man’s ever growing and ever changing temptations from the son of the morning and fallen angel Lucifer, the story of Adam and Eve and the Sins of the flesh.
“Sanguise” is a story of a brood of vampires that have grown tired of their never ending lives. I was inspired one night sitting on my sofa I looked up and found myself staring at a charcoal rubbing I did of Bela Lugosi’s grave marker, and the story just played out in my head, and when the music was written it all just fit so well with the lyrics.
“Before You’re Gone” is a love story about a man’s ever growing love for his spouse and the ever growing reassurance to her that he will always be there when needed.

Tell me about your new EP: “The Simplest Terms and Most Convenient Definitions.”
What was the inspiration and process of writing it.
Three Rounds:
There really wasn’t any specific inspiration as a whole for the new EP, the songs have their own stories to tell and the rest is recorded history
.

VMS:
Which local artist would you like to work with and why.
Three Rounds:
I’d love to work in the studio with the Las Vegas sax player Sojourner. I’ve been dying to form a good musical relationship with a solid saxophonist for years now, that’s an instrument that just soothes the soul and makes every song better that it’s a part of.
VMS:
What’s your overall theme or message of your music.
Three Rounds:
I’ll quote a lord Byron poem for this one “There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes, By the deep Sea, and music in its roar: I love not Man the less, but Nature more…”

VMS:
Do you have a favorite song that you like to perform.
Three Rounds:
“Goodbye horses (Q Lazzarus)”
VMS:
Do you have any crazy or interesting stories from working in the music scene.
Three Rounds:
Plenty of stories but none that would be crazy or interesting enough to put on this list lol.
VMS:
What does the future hold for Three Rounds.
Three Rounds:
More songs, wrinkles, & shows.
VMS:
What have been your personal pros and cons of being a band here in Las Vegas. What do you think the scene could improve on and what are your hopes for the future of the Vegas Music Scene.
Three Rounds:
My hopes for the future of the Las Vegas music scene is that these larger venues and larger promotion companies like live nation and such start catering to the local bands, start including local bands on these national headlining shows, give the small bands a decent chance to build their audience legitimately through live music, stop judging bands based on their social media numbers and bot followers, start booking bands and artists off of their talent not a ridiculous number sitting at the top of a social media page, continuing to do things this way is preventing the world from becoming acquainted with some amazing music.
I think big promotion companies should start putting talent scouts back out into the public, back at the small shows and get some of these amazing local bands in front of large scale audiences. That’s my hope for music in general, not just the Vegas scene. But I’m old and dated so I’m sure that will never happen.
