1. The Meowzas
Song: “Childless Cat ladies“
Release Date: January 20th, 2025
(On Punkerton Records Compilation Album “Rock Against Trump Vol. 1”, Check it out here!)*
*(So I know that they are releasing this song I believe officially tomorrow on Saturday, But I just loved the title of this song, so I legitimately couldn’t wait, so I checked this out on the compilation album “Rock Against Trump Vol 1”, which is actually a wonderful album, and you should go check it out right now on Punkerton Records! )
The Meowzas bring an upbeat and catchy vibe to this song, all while talking about some incredibly important topics, which makes for an interesting juxtaposition. Say what you will about Trump and politics, I respect any artist who stands up for what they believe in.
Now more than ever I feel it is so incredibly important that we stand up for each other, especially women, minorities and the LGBTQ Community and I appreciate The Meowzas for having the strength to write a wonderful song that could honestly be a radio hit, and also just being incredibly bad ass woman in general!
This song is fun, has a very tongue and cheek vibe to it, and has me instantly singing along to the chorus. The Meowzas always write wonderful music and this is definitely no exception. Between the lyrics in support of women, and the opposition of our government, solid musicianship, this song is definitely one you need to put on your playlist. These woman are amazing bad asses, and I can’t wait to where else they will take us next!

2. We Might Die
Song: “Bloom (I Still Hate You) “
Release Date: January 3rd, 2025
We Might Die just keep getting stronger with each song they release and it’s incredibly fascinating to watch. I know they are a fairly new band, so watching them find their vibe and sound in real time, is amazing watch. I loved their first single B.I.T.B and I feel between “Bloom (I Still Hate You)” and “Get Out Of My Scene” these are both wonderful steps in the right direction.
It was hard to choose which song to do a review on, but I went with Bloom cause I love it’s brutal honesty, about trying to get rid of what seems like someone toxic in their life, which is incredibly hard to do. Plus, it’s just so ridiculously catchy as a song, I just wanted to keep playing it on repeat.
With their strong musicianship, very solid pop / punk songs, and always a commanding vocal presence, We Might Die are definitely ones to watch out for. I can’t wait to see the next musical journey they will take us on next.

3. Zerzura
Song: “Jelly“
Release Date: January 14th, 2025.
Zerzura starts the year off right with an awesome catchy slow jam of a song called “Jelly”. It talks about love, relationships, and the complexities of all of that. I love how Zerzura is not afraid to play around with their sound and vocals, they definitely love experimenting and I appreciate that they always keep it interesting.
This song has such an amazing airy summertime quality to it, it’s hard to describe, it just feels like a breath of fresh air to me, I found myself playing this definitely on repeat when I was writing this article. I couldn’t help it, it’s just a catchy as fuck song. (Lmao)
I loved their other single “Magic 8-Ball” as well, but I do love how fun, magical and just what a wonderful ear worm the chorus is for “Jelly”, I think it’s a great step in the right direction for this band and I can’t wait to hear where they will take us next.

4. Wyatt and the Ashes
Song: “Vitamins“
Release Date: January 24th, 2025
Wyatt and the Ashes are back with a great up tempo punk / rock song about love / Addiction, and the vices we all struggle with. It’s an incredibly honest and lyrically a very sad song at times, with vocals that make me feel a sense of anger and longing, up against the juxtaposition of making it fast paced is an interesting one, and I feel definitely fits the vibe of Wyatt and the Ashes and their music. I always appreciate the huge heart on their sleeve and passion they have for everything they do.
They are also incredibly underrated musicians as well, I feel it should be noted that every single song I’ve heard from them is so incredibly solid, they really do make catchy as fuck songs. Between “Vitamins” and their other single “High Intentions”, I feel both are an incredibly strong evolution for them and I’m excited to hear more music and hopefully an EP soon!

5. Mac Nealy
Song: “Say Dat“
Release Date: January 12th, 2025
Mac Nealy starts off this year on a very strong note, with a wonderful new album, and a great lead single called “Say Dat”. I love the whole vibe of this album, but “Say Dat” really stands out between the smooth vocals, strong lyrical content and a sick ass beat, I could really see this being the hit of the summer.
I do appreciate that with each song I’ve heard, he is always constantly pushing himself musically and lyrically, taking us into the next layer of his music and vibe. I feel this new song is a wonderful step in the right direction and I could definitely see people getting on the dance floor to this one.
