Hello Rockstars!
I’m so excited about this Top 5, there is so much amazing music coming out of the Vegas Music Scene, and Today’s article is on Talented Mother Fuckers: The Jerk-Off’s, Life’s Torment, 2Dayz, I’ll Catch Fire and Sicaro! Enjoy! 🙂

EP : “A Couple for the Road“
Release Date: January 28th, 2025
Standout Tracks: “Reckless” and “Outta Here”
Punk Rock band The Jerk-Offs are back with their new EP “A Couple for the Road”, and even though it’s three songs, all three pack an amazing punch! I liked their song last year “Scumfuc Tradition” and their Self Titled 2023 EP “The Jerk-Offs“, I think this new EP is a wonderful evolution from their previous music and It’s interesting to see how far they have come in such a short amount of time. I absolutely love that “Sloppy Drunk” starts off with a sound bite from one of my favorite movies “American Movie” and then just does not let up the rest of the song. It’s a wonderfully intense way to start off this EP. My standout favorites are definitely “Reckless” and “Outta Here”, but all of them are great fucking songs, so it was hard to pick lmao, but these are the ones I really vibe to the most.
With lyrics about love, personal struggles, and everything in between, What I love about The Jerk-Offs is the raw, real, gritty old school punk vibe I get from their songs. They feel very 70’s / Alt 90’s, which I love! I definitely also encourage you to go check them out live when you get a chance, that passion and energy they have for their music translates beautifully into their live shows. All in all, I loved every moment of this EP, my only big complaint is it’s not long enough! But maybe that is the point, come out with a bang and leave the listener wanting more. Wherever they go, I just know the ride is going to be amazing, and I will keep my fingers crossed for a full length Album one day! In this weird political climate, thank you for just staying true to who you are, please never lose that! 🙂

EP : “Burn the Wishes, Pt.1“
Release Date: February 5th, 2025
Standout Tracks: “Bophades” and “Immortal”
Alt-Rock band I’ll Catch Fire is back with an incredibly catchy, fun, and overall very strong EP called “Burn the Wishes, Pt.1“. Even though I know some of these songs are re-mixed and re-mastered, I feel this is a wonderful step in the right direction overall. With songs about self-reflection, love, and lessons learned, I think lyrically and musically you can definitely see the growth, especially with standout songs like the very beautiful “Immortal”, I think this EP is a wonderful combination of everything I love about I’ll Catch Fire, they can write either an incredibly upbeat and catchy as fuck song, or they can write one of the most beautiful songs you’ve ever heard, which is amazing to me.
They are not afraid to wear their heart on their sleeve, and I think this EP is a testament to that. As musicians they work well together and run a tight ship, you can tell they love what they do, and they have created truly wonderful songs that are a solid Alt/ Pop-Rock infectious treat for the listener. I can’t wait to hear what their Part Two will be for I’ll Catch Fire, I’m sure it’s going to be another amazing musical journey. 🙂

3. Sicaro
Album: “Lucha Bros.“
Release Date: January 13th, 2025.
Standout Tracks: “Banda Boombap” and “Sinful Devil”
This new evolution of artist Sicaro is probably one of my favorite ones so far. I love that he always keeps the listener guessing as to which direction musically he will go next and vibe wise I do love how their seems to be a darker undertone to the music and some of the subject matter in this album. For this new evolution he has brought artist Probz along for the ride, and honestly to me, they are a match made in heaven. Musically, and Lyrically they really bring out the best in each other and I just ended up absolutely loving the vibe of this whole album.
They talk about everything to love, anger, loss, social issues, and you can tell they are drawing from personal experiences which makes this album feel incredibly raw and real. I love that they have taken bad situations and can create such explosive and in your face music, all while running musically an incredibly diverse and tight ship. The standout tracks for me are “Banda Boombap” and “Sinful Devil”, which I think showcase both artists strengths wonderfully. I greatly encourage you to listen to this album to experience it for yourself, this ride is a smooth but wild one and i’m excited to see the next layer of Sicaro and his incredibly diverse world.

4. 2Dayz
EP : “The Mongoose“
Release Date: February 7th, 2025
Standout Tracks: “Tidal Wave” and “Mongoose”
Alt-Rock band 2Dayz New Ep “The Mongoose” is an incredibly fun rock album that will have you jump out of your seats and make you want to dance! Their first single was a great introduction to them as a band, and also a very beautiful ballad which showed their softer side, but I’m glad everyone gets to hear the awesome songs that they have been playing live for a bit. I know they are a relatively new band, but even in this album I can hear the huge growth they have had in just a short amount of time. Their musicianship is pretty strong on this EP and they definitely keep the momentum going, luckily there are no skips because of this.
I do also appreciate how they have fun and have a strong intent to what they sing not only with their vocals but they are becoming pretty solid with their lyrics as well, such as topics about love, Self-Reflection, Loss, Mental Health and I’m super curious to know if the Main title song “The Mongoose” was inspired by anyone in their life, or maybe honestly he is all of us, either way, that song is incredibly catchy and always a crowd favorite at their shows and definitely a highlight of the EP.
The standout tracks for me are definitely “Tidal Wave” and “Brain Worm”, I just love everything about these songs; they are just so un-apologetically fun, they rock out pretty hard and feels like these could be hits for 2dayz. I think this six track EP is a perfect and incredibly strong introduction to the band on a whole and I’m excited to see where the future will take them next. To get the full experience of 2Dayz, I do encourage you to check them out live at their EP Release party going on at Voodoo Brewery Las Vegas on Feb.28th at 7pm! It’s gonna be a great show and has a killer lineup!

5. Life’s Torment
Album: “……..in retrospect“
Release Date: January 10th, 2025
Standout Tracks: “Shit Stirrer” and “To Whom it May Concern”
Southwest Hardcore punks Life’s Torment come out swinging with their new album “……..in retrospect“. I absolutely loved their last release called “Thou Shall Conform, Or Else…” and I think this is a wonderful evolution of their sound, incredibly explosive musicianship and also subject matter. The album starts on a balls to the walls beginning with “Selfish Much” and “Pigeonhold” and goes right into the standout track “Shit Stirrer” which is raw, gritty and incredibly in your face and a wonderful track to ease you into the rest of their songs.
This whole album seems to be a social, political and religious commentary on the shambles of our society and I respect the fact that you can tell in their songs the passion they feel for what they are talking about, this album is incredibly important now more than ever, especially in this political climate. I encourage you to also go see them in person, to get the full experience, I can guarantee they will put on a show like no other! We all need to stand up for what we believe in and I’m proud that Life’s Torment is leading the fight!
