VMS:
When did you start performing as a band and what’s your backstory and current lineup.
Oktober:
We all met via a performing program we all attend, School of Rock. One day Andrew (singer) said we should all form a band outside of school of rock, with his sister Annabelle (guitar) and Jason (bass) with Anita (drums).
It took us a while to actually play together because Jason didn’t have a bass he played a regular guitar. Plus as a band you have so much set up to do before you can even get to playing; like setting up drums, getting guitar and mic amplifiers and so much more. After Christmas 2024 is when we were all able to get together. We played “27” by title fight and posted it to tik tok, that first video currently stands at 25.4k likes.

VMS:
What artist or bands inspire you and your sound.
Oktober:
We’re mainly influenced by the Midwest emo to punk rock scene. We love bands like Title Fight and Joyce Manor.

VMS:
Which local artist would you like to work with and why.
Oktober:
We think February is such a cool band. Their music has such a unique flavor, the tones that their guitarist gets are incredible. Plus their rhythm section is very much on time and holding it down which is fundamental.

VMS:
What’s your overall theme or message that you like to convey for your audience.
Oktober:
We feel that when our audience is watching our videos, or hearing us in person. We want them to feel content and happy. But also comforted, our lyrics and tracks are a representation on our experiences and how we feel and someone listening to us can get the message we have in our lives. Maybe they’ll feel that feeling listening to a song that just makes you feel like you.

VMS:
Do you have a favorite song that you like to perform.
Oktober:
Our favorite song to play is “Constant Headache” by Joyce Manor. The song is such a fun vibe but also very relatable. Because of the song’s simplicity, we all feel there is a lot of room for variation like a lead after a verse or a stop you know? We’re constantly changing to play these songs that they were written, but to also put our own flavor on it.
VMS:
Tell me about your song “Taker”. What was the inspiration behind it.
Oktober:
For our original “Taker”, Annabelle and Andrew worked hard on their lyrics based off of their own experiences and also inspiration from the band Title fight when they showed Jason and Anita, we all came together and wrote parts to give the song that drive it needed.

Do you have any crazy or interesting stories from working in the music scene.
Oktober:
We don’t have any crazy or weird stories. But we’ve all been in the scene for a while, and we’ve learned that you meet lots of people and it really brings us all together. We’ve met people from other bands or played with people we didn’t even know the names of. But to be so close with people over music, we feel, is very interesting in itself.

VMS:
What do you want your audience to feel and experience when you perform.
Oktober:
Very similar question to #4 (What’s your overall theme or message that you like to convey for your audience.) but we mainly want our audience to feel connected. We want them to have that feeling of relating to the music or just, loving the music and the tones in your ears. It’s really a great feeling to just listen sometimes.

VMS:
What have been your personal pros and cons of being a band here in Las Vegas. What do you think the scene could improve on and what are your hopes for the future of the Vegas Music Scene.
Oktober:
There’s lots of pros being in Vegas because it’s such a big yet small city. There’s many great musicians in this city that we all learn from each other, but we’re all friends too. We feel that the cons are that Vegas doesn’t really have many venues outside of the strip and downtown area. Plus rehearsals especially garage rehearsals can get very hot and exhausting.

VMS:
What does the future hold for Oktober.
Oktober:
In the future we hope to create better and more music. But also stay together and grow together, we all are on different paths and different levels, but when we play together there’s a feeling of unity. We’re all best friends and we’ll all keep sharing music with everyone!
