AOTW: Coffin Fit

Hello Rockstars! Today’s Artist of the Week is Metal Band Coffin Fit!
Here’s their story in their own words, enjoy! 🙂

VMS:

“When did you start writing and performing your music. What’s your backstory and current lineup.”

Coffin Fit:

“In freshman year of high school, our guitarist Danny began writing much of the music we perform today and started looking for band members. After a few early members left for other projects, Danny found himself without a band. While attending UNLV, he made a sign looking to recruit new members. That’s how Coffin Fit came together, and we played our first show in January 2024.”

VMS:

“What artist or bands inspire you and your sound.”

Coffin Fit:

“Collectively, we listen to a wide variety of genres, which shapes our sound. While it’s hard to pin us down to just one band, we think our music has a vibe that’s somewhat comparable to The Misfits, Alice in Chains, and Metallica.”

VMS:

“What’s your writing process and inspiration for your lyrics.”

Coffin Fit:

“Our writing process is pretty organic. We often start with a jam session, where ideas get thrown around and we begin crafting a song on the spot. It’s a collaborative effort with everyone contributing to the music as it evolves.

When it comes to lyrics, Danny typically takes the lead, where he draws inspiration from current events, personal experiences, and folklore.”

VMS:

“I love your song “Crawling Back”. What is the inspiration or story behind this song, and do you have a favorite song(s) in particular that you like to perform live.”

Coffin Fit:

“Thank you! “Crawling Back” was actually inspired by our band name, Coffin Fit. The song alludes to the feeling of being buried alive—choking, being stuck in a cycle, feeling trapped, and ultimately finding a way to move on. We just released it on all streaming services, give it a listen!

As for our favorite songs to play live, “Baba Yaga,” “Closer,” and “Romance is Dead” are definitely at the top. They have a lot of energy, and we really enjoy the parts we each get to play in them.”

VMS:

“Which local artist would you like to work with and why.”

Coffin Fit:

“We’d love to work with Pure Sport and Elevated Undergrounds. Our bassist’s first local show he saw was with these bands, and our guitarist, drummer, and vocalist are all big fans of their music.”

VMS:

“What’s your overall theme or message of your music.”

Coffin Fit:

“Our music often incorporates horror themes with satirical and metaphorical messages, allowing us to explore and reflect on current events, personal experiences, and ominous storytelling.

Through this approach, we aim to connect with listeners on multiple levels, blending the eerie with the relatable.”

VMS:

“Do you have any crazy or interesting stories from working in the music scene.”

Coffin Fit:

“We don’t have anything too wild, but one of the craziest—and unfortunately, frustrating—experiences was when a truck carrying lithium-ion batteries caught fire on the I-15. It shut down the entire road, turning what was supposed to be a 4-hour drive for our mini-tour in California into a grueling 12-hour trip. Definitely one of the most exhausting experiences we’ve had.”

VMS:

“What does the future hold for Coffin Fit.”

Coffin Fit:

“Our focus is on releasing our album and playing as many shows as possible. We’re committed to growing within the music scene while building strong relationships with fellow musicians and bands, both in Las Vegas and beyond. The goal is to keep evolving as a band and expanding our reach.”**

VMS:

“What do you want your audience to feel and experience at one of your live shows.”

Coffin Fit:

“At our shows, we want the audience to have fun and feel like they’re a part of the experience. We aim to interact with everyone, making sure they feel seen and included, as if they’re not just watching us but joining in the performance.

It’s all about creating a sense of togetherness and giving people the space to let loose and enjoy the moment.”

VMS Thoughts:

What I love about Coffin Fit is how intense not only their music is, but also their live shows. It’s interesting cause they definitely have the skills musicianship wise, but their music and lyrics are well beyond their years. They have such an intense high energy in songs like “Crawling Back”, talking about losing yourself, but managing to crawl back out of the bullshit and become stronger, which I really resonated with, since that’s something we have all struggled with. I’m happy to say they still have that same magnetism and rawness that you feel in their songs, it translates incredibly well into their live shows.

I was blown away when I saw them live, they have an unapologetic hard rock sound, and had the crowd going crazy with their music, you could really feel the electricity in that room. Between the crunchy guitars, commanding drums and those amazing vocals, they truly have a charisma and amazing skills that will certainly catapult them in the years to come, which they are already off to a very strong start. I just hope that they continue to stay true to who they are as a band, and keep that passion that you can tell they have for their craft. Their raw, real, fierce and with a truly unique outlook they have with their writing, songs, and sick ass goth aesthetic, I know the evolution of Coffin Fit is gonna be a wild one. But for now, I’m just gonna watch them make the crowd lose their shit and mosh like crazy at their next show. I hope to see you all there too!
