Hello Rockstars!
Today’s Artist of the Week I’m going to be talking about is Las Vegas Rock Band 2Dayz!
Here’s their story in their own words! Enjoy! And as always, please support the Vegas Music Scene!

VMS:
“When did you start writing and performing your music, what’s your backstory.”

2Dayz:
“Most of the band started playing together and trying to make something within our sophomore year of high school. We kept trying but nothing really stuck until junior year, there was a class where you had to make a band and play cover songs and it took a couple months but we found out footing and just never left. And I’d say we never really had great success in making music until last year when we really started putting our all ya know.”

VMS:
“What artist or bands inspire you and your sound.”

2Dayz:
“I’d say a lot of it comes from more alt or indie rock bands like Arctic monkeys or Wallows, but we all like different genres so it all kinda meshes together into something cool.”

VMS:
“What’s your writing process and inspiration for your lyrics.”

2Dayz:
“We kinda just start with a cool riff or idea, and then we all just try to fit in within the idea and after we find a foundation we expand upon it more and more until it flushes out to something we can be happy with. And for lyrics our vocalist just starts trying to come up with melodies and key words to carry the song in our practice, and then in between practices he comes up with something pretty great to round out the song and we just practice it over and over after that.”

VMS:
“I love your song “What Could’ve Been”.
What is the inspiration or story behind this song.”

2Dayz:
So our music teacher wanted us to come up with something for a summer accelerated program so he can produce a song for us. So we just did our usual thing and came up with some stuff but the lyrics were the hardest part. We knew what it wanted to be about because I think it came from a place of our teenage angst with relationships, almost feeding that idea of “the one that got away”. But then some of the members went on vacation so we had to call in our friend to finish the lyrics and guitar, then the song was just born.”

VMS:
“Which local artist would you like to work with and why.”

2Dayz:
“Personally I’ve really been liking the band Split Persona, they’re not locals yet but their sound is super rad and I think it’d be fun to delve deeper into some more grungier stuff, but if I could find a really cool indie pop band out here I’m immediately asking for a collab.”

VMS:
“What’s your overall theme or message of your music.”

2Dayz:
“I think a lot of our music comes from some of our angst we still have as teenagers. A lot of it comes from personal experiences within relationships or what it was like in high school for us. I like to look at our music as a coming of age story or what those high school summers felt like for us.”

VMS:
“Do you have a favorite song that you like to perform.”

2Dayz:
“I think it depends on how we’re feeling, some of us love to cover like “Everlong” by Foo Fighters, “I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor” by Arctic Monkeys, or even like some Blur songs. But at the moment within originals, I think “Tidal Wave” and “Outta My Way” are some of our favorites.”

VMS:
“Do you have any crazy or interesting stories from working in the music scene.”

2Dayz:
“Not yet unfortunately, but I will say the experience of just working in music and getting to perform is just amazing. It’s been a wonderful time and I wouldn’t trade the world for it, I hope we keep getting to do bigger and bigger things because this has been such a blast.”

VMS:
“What does the future hold for 2Dayz.”

2Dayz:
“We’re hoping to put out an EP by the end of the summer and an album by the end of the year but we’ll see what happens. Life can get in the way for a lot of us so we just have to keep trying. I think we all do eventually want to put an album out that’s one of our biggest goals it’s just a matter of getting in the studio.”

VMS:
“What do you want your audience to feel and experience at one of your live shows.”

2Dayz:
“I want our audience to just feel good and really vibe with the music, I’d want to bring somewhat of a nostalgic feeling and just a head bopping sound for everyone to get up and dance too.
Music’s supposed to just make you feel good so I hope we can do that for our audiences.”

Vegas Music Scene Thoughts:
What I love about 2Dayz, is that for newcomers to the scene, they have such a wonderful knack for a memorable hook and surprisingly mature lyrics for their age. They also have a great diversity in their music as well; whether they are covering “Enter Sandman” by Metallica and their Beautiful rendition of Radiohead’s “Creep”, to their melancholy and love-lorn track “What Could’ve Been”, or their more rock / grunge heavy song “Tidal Wave”, I feel it’s going to be absolutely fascinating to see the evolution of this band. They already have such a strong core and a wonderful chemistry in their live shows, as long as they never lose sight of that, and never let this industry change them, I think they could definitely go far!
That’s why I am proud to make them my Artist of the Week!

On a Side-Note: My only wish for Las Vegas is that we had more venues in town that catered to “All Ages” Show’s, since Bands like 2Dayz definitely deserve to have their voices heard! I greatly appreciate the ones that try, but I feel it’s still a struggle in this city that hopefully is something that can be fixed one day.

I know 2Dayz has some new shows coming up, so please I encourage you to go check out their website for more information!
