About Peaceful Retreat (Press Release Bio):
Peaceful Retreat is an instrumental post-rock band formed in 2017, crafting expansive soundscapes that blur the line between intensity and tranquility. Drawing inspiration from the atmospheric builds of Caspian, the cinematic weight of If These Trees Could Talk, and the timeless experimentation of Pink Floyd, the band channels emotion through soaring guitar textures, dynamic rhythms, and immersive sonic storytelling.
In 2018, the band released their debut EP *Genesis* as a five-piece, marking their first step into a wider sonic landscape. The record showcased their early vision—layered guitars, evolving dynamics, and a strong emphasis on mood and atmosphere. In 2019, Peaceful Retreat became a four-piece, a shift that refined their creative approach and tightened their sound while preserving the depth and intensity they had established.
After a year-long hiatus during the pandemic, Peaceful Retreat returned in 2021 to begin working on their first full length record debut. A concept album based on the 1977 NASA Voyager missions. The band has remained focused on creating music that speaks without words—inviting listeners into a reflective space where tension and release unfold naturally. Their compositions move between quiet introspection and powerful crescendos, capturing the essence of personal journeys, fleeting moments, and the search for calm amid chaos.
Attendees of DRI’s May the Science Be with You event will have the opportunity to experience Las Vegas based instrumental band Peaceful Retreat on Friday, May 1 at DRI’s campus located at 755 E. Flamingo Road in Las Vegas. The band is scheduled to be live between 5:30 and 6:30 pm. The timing of this performance is exciting as the band is preparing to release a new full length album rooted in one of humanity’s most ambitious journeys, the Voyager space missions.
Blending ambient textures with slow building cinematic movement, the band has developed a sound that feels both intimate and expansive. This upcoming record leans fully into that identity, exploring themes of distance, isolation, curiosity, and the quiet beauty of drifting into the unknown.
The first single, “Voyager 1,” is already available on all streaming platforms along with an official music video. The track offers an early glimpse into the tone of the album, balancing a sense of wonder with an underlying feeling of solitude.
Peaceful retreat has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with bands such as The Appleseed Cast, Dozer, Blue Heron, LSD And The Search For GOD, Ranges, Zeurel, The Speed Of Sound In Seawater, and more. With a sound rooted in both modern post-rock and classic progressive influences, Peaceful Retreat continues to evolve, shaping music that resonates deeply and lingers long after the final note fades.
