AOTW: headgore

Hello Rockstars! Today’s Artist of the Week is goregrind / gorenoise Metal Band headgore!
Here’s their own story in their own words, also please save the date for their show on May 21st at The Griffin Sponsored by Hellhouse Productions! Check it out! 🙂

VMS:

“When did you start writing and performing your music.
What’s your backstory and current lineup.”

headgore:

“Headgore started in like mid 2019, I (Irene) always wanted to do a metal band after failing with random experimental projects and got some of my coworkers at hot topic to be the first official lineup of the band, many members have changed in and out but the current lineup is some of my best and closest friends and I can’t appreciate them enough for doing this weird project with me.”

VMS:

“What artist or bands inspire you and your sound.”

headgore:

“We’re really inspired by a lot of the bottom of the barrel goregrind and gorenoise projects you’ll find on bandcamp, but we also collectively love Weekend Nachos for their overall attitude and sound, Botch is also a huge influence and the band Pissgrave is who inspired our band name based on one of their album arts. Full of Hell is the band that really inspired me to start the project and really model ourselves after. Also super into noise rock like Jesus Lizard, Nirvana, and Sonic Youth.”

VMS:

“What’s your writing process and inspiration for your lyrics.”

headgore:

“Lately a lot of our songs have been really bitter and pissed off, usually just responding to shit around us. But the writing process is usually just trying to find the most mosh inspiring sound while still mixing in our noise roots.”

VMS:

“I love your songs “Bitchmade”, “Found on Road Dead (Ft. Anal Birth)“, “God Made Me Do It” and “This Song Is Sponsored by the CIA.” What is the inspiration or story behind these songs.”

headgore:

“”Bitchmade” is just a massive call out to high ego dudes with nothing to show for it. And “God Made Me Do It” was actually inspired by the CEO of Bang Energy who claims god told him to start the company but is also about over delusions of grandeur.”

VMS:

“Tell me about your EP: “My Father Taught Me This“. What was the inspiration and process of writing it.”

headgore:

“The EP originally supposed to be a split with another band that fell through, it’s probably our least conceptual release, mostly just trying to transition into writing songs that inspire moshing live rather than just purely scaring the audience but still keeping that overall weird creepy vibe we’ve worked up.”

VMS:

“Which local artist would you like to work with and why.”

headgore:

“There’s a ton of peeps, we’d love to play some shows with Teach* as they’re heavy af and the dudes are really nice people, massive shout out to Hang Em High, Pete Jennings, and also Order Number #5. We’d love to play any shows with them.”

* Since the questions were asked a couple of months ago, headgore does have a show on May 21st at The Griffin with TEACH! You should all go check it out, it’s gonna be a sick lineup:

VMS:

“What’s your overall theme or message of your music.”

headgore:

“It’s pretty hard to pin down but overall I’d say our biggest theme is just uncompromising bitterness.”

VMS:

“Do you have a favorite song that you like to perform.”

headgore:

“I personally really love playing “Bitchmade” and our Weekend Nachos cover, we also have a lot of new songs that haven’t been recorded yet that I enjoy because it showcases more of our variety because just blastbeats and noise.”

VMS:

“Do you have any crazy or interesting stories from working in the music scene.”

headgore:

“To be Honest most of our shows have been super chaotic and insane, a lot of fights and people getting knocked out. Many times we’ve had to stop our set to wait out cops and noise complaints.”

VMS:

“What does the future hold for headgore.”

headgore:

“We’ve been working on an Lp for about 4/5 years since the band started and we’re about to finally start rolling it out to the public, shout-out upryse records for letting us drop through him, keep your ears peeled. We also hope to do more out of state shows, we got a couple cali fests lined up.”

VMS:

“What do you want your audience to feel and experience at one of your live shows.”

headgore:

“We definitely just wanna give our audience a more unique take on the genres we claim, just uncompromising noise but also some good slams to throw hands to.”

VMS Thoughts:

What I love about headgore is hard to put into words honestly. I love that they are not afraid to play with different genres to make their own mind bending experience for the listener. They have an amazing raw quality to their music and they just rock so fucking hard, with those incredible grinding guitars, gnarly vocals and drums that go full throttle, I love the balls to the walls magnetic energy they have, it’s truly so incredibly fun to listen too, and makes for an intense headphone experience (which I definitely encourage to listen to their music full fucking blast, that is the only way!) they literally felt like they came from the depths of hell (In a good way, let’s be honest, hell has the best music.:-) lol )

I also encourage you to go check them out live to get the full experience for yourself on May 21st at the Griffin! they are playing with another amazing local Vegas band called Teach and I know will give you a concert you will never forget!

I’m legitimately excited to see where the future takes headgore, I love their experimental music style and it will be so wonderful to see where they take the evolution of their sound. they are raw, real, and I know for one, I’m already buckled in for the next eargasmic head explosion. 🙂
